ROSLYN ELMS ART & IMAGES
ABOUT ROSLYN ELMS
BIOGRAPHY
Thank you for visiting my site and taking the time to look at my work.
Painting and drawing since childhood, I've always been drawn to both experiencing and creating art. I believe in avoiding confinement to a single genre, instead embracing experimentation across techniques, mediums and styles as a vital part of my practice.
Charcoal and pastel works, along with oil painting, remain my greatest passions, allowing me to explore depth, texture and emotion in every piece I create.
Many of my works, photographic, paintings and drawings, have found homes around the world.
Accomplishments as a photographer and artist include winning the trophy for best Small Art Exhibit, Sydney Art Expo 2012 for photography and digital art.
Several solo and collaborative exhibitions have been held, including:
“Infinites of Blue” Blue Mountains Artists Network Exhibition, NSW State Parliament, March 2016;
“Bygone Eras – Portraits of the Past with Gerlinde Thomas, Oil Painter, Gallery One88, Katoomba, August, 2016;
Blue Mountains Portrait Exhibition, 2018 – Portrait selected and displayed, “Farewell”, Blue Mountains City Gallery;
Blue Mountains Portrait Exhibition, 2019 – Portrait selected and displayed, “Julia”, Blue Mountains City Gallery;
Finalist several years running for the Lethbridge 10000 Small Art Competition, Paddington QLD;
Highly Commended award winner at the Infinites of Blue Exhibition held at State Parliament House (NSW) for a digital art image "Bush Poles" 2016;
Finalist 2026 Fairholm 'Facets' Art Prize, Toowoomba for two art works: Winx and Hugh Bowman and Pharlap and Jim Pike. Both works Graphite and Charcoal on paper.
From 2013 to 2020 I owned and managed the Little Wombat Gallery in Faulconbridge which represented other accomplished local artists as well as my own work. This came to a close when we moved to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland in 2020.
Now concentrating on mainly painting and drawing, I am still occasionally working in the field of photography.
Commissions are welcomed.
